Coping up techniques for mental health during CoVid-19

corona virus

Covid-19 has impacted the thought process of every human being in the entire world. Let’s look at the psychological implication of mental health and measures to be taken for emotional well-being at this time.

Our entire routine is de-railed from track creating uncertainty of future, frustration, panic, and anxiety. In this article, I am going to highlight positive ways to cope with the situation, and the significance of faith, hope, communal unity to deal optimistically.

The majority of the world population is getting used to social distancing which is completely a new concept for us. The precaution of social distancing is a preventive step for the safety of self as well as other lives. This is not something to distance you from social engagement or communicating from others.

We are connected to each other through a common objective to fight against something disastrous. A collective communal effort is the need of the hour. Bringing self -awareness by each person reflects our social awareness and social responsibility.

World Health Organization and National level authorities of each country are implementing aggressive measures for the well-being of humans across the globe. The rules and regulations of closing borders, halting flights, or canceling Olympic are creating stress and anxiety for most of the people.

If you introspect, the anxiety is provoked by the thought of uncertainty of future, fear of being a victim, the stress of coping with financial burden…the list goes on. Acknowledge the fact this is the situation for the entire human race across the universe. Embrace the situation to cope up in our best possible way.

The situation gives a fight or flight option. Our palpitation increases and hormones in our body fluctuates reflecting in a physical symptom. Once we acknowledge and accept the situation, the mind becomes calm secreting the required hormones to reduce stress and anxiety. Adaptability and embracing the situation reduces the restlessness in mind and starts giving clarity in our thought process.

To battle against a virus we need unity of universal brotherhood and instill the faith of hope. Now, how can we execute these thoughts? Each one of us has a different personality, unique cultural background, variation in economic strata, responding naturally to the current situation with their belief systems, etc.

According to cognitive Behavior therapy when any Antidotes(A) happen we jump to our Belief system(B) and behave which in turn reflects as Consequence© of our reaction to the Antidotes. It is the same here. When our Belief system is positive and strong to understand we react in a positive way calming our mind to bring clarity. Another way to cope up is by having empathy for each other and self which inculcates a secure feeling reducing anxiety and worries.

It is highly appreciable to learn that every moment government sectors, private organizations, health care sectors, medical practitioners, scientists, innovative thinkers, change makers, trendsetters are burning the midnight oil for the welfare and survival of human lives.

This shows social distancing is driving towards social togetherness in thoughts and action for creating a new world filled with positive energy to lead a beautiful life. Appreciation of change makers and compassion for self/others relieves mental stress to a good extent. Joining hands with communal effort without any barrier we can flatten the curve and reshape our beautiful earth.
